(To clarify, most of this is an overexaggeration and satire for comedic effect.)
Waking up. Something that most everyone hates, especially when it’s early. However, that was almost something that I had to do for a class. Welcome, dear reader, to a little story of why I believe that waking up at 8:00 a.m. for a class is something that should not ever have to happen to people.
The 2020 Sars-Cov2 pandemic brought something that the world was not prepared for – the inability to go outside. Now, while this was good for gamers – it wasn’t good for all the people who relied on going outside to do work, or school, or see their long-distance “situationship.” However, it did make it so that we now have the technology fluency to be able to move any space virtually, from the comfort of our homes. However, this then brought up the question, now that we didn’t need to go to places to do work or school, why ever cancel?
Productivity isn’t a bad thing, however. It can allow for a lot of good things. Although, when productivity is the only thing that people focus on, they tend to not think of much else. And this is where my passion comes from and what caused me to write this article. Due to the recent snowstorm, there was no ability for there to be class. My class that starts at 8 a.m. and is required for my major decided to move class virtually. Now, I should clarify that this ended up not happening, and the class was pre-recorded for us to watch. However, I think that the very idea of the fact that a day that should be spent in enjoying the snow could ever become something that simply becomes more work and tiredness. What ever happened to the old days of when we were kids and we would hope that our parents would tell us there was no school.
This is something that should anger the rest of you. These sorts of days should be spent either curled up around a warm fireplace or playing out in the snow. Spending them on worrying more about work and deadlines just makes it harder to enjoy the wonder and peacefulness of a nice snow, even if that snow turns to ice.
