Before reading this book, I was only mildly interested in Greek mythology. The closest I got to learning about Greek mythology was watching Hercules and the Percy Jackson series. Anything beyond that never grabbed my attention, until I read this book… “Lore Olympus.” “Lore Olympus” was originally a webtoon created by Rachel Smythe. Her webtoon got so popular that it received a physical publication that is now sold at many locations, including Barnes and Noble. This book focuses on Persephone, the goddess of spring, who is destined to grow up to be the next fertility god. She is currently enrolled in an education program in Olympus where she obtained a scholarship to study for free. One requirement of this program is to do an internship, and she decided to do her internship in the underworld, working closely with Hades, the god of the underworld. The two eventually start forming a love connection, but it would be forbidden for her to be with him due to her future title as the goddess of fertility while disallowing romantic relationships, romantically and physically.

When I first read this book, I loved the art style and the flow of the book. Just flipping through a couple of pages, you can see how detailed each drawing was beautifully made, which makes me appreciate the book even more. I also learned as I got farther into the book, that the book was based on events that occurred within Greek mythology, which in a sense “made learning fun”. Even though the main focus of this book is on Persephone and Hades’s connection, I like how other gods are added into this story; each character has a unique personality and different design than the other. Each god and goddess is represented by a different color, for example, Hades is blue, Persephone is pink, Zeus is Purple, and so forth. This made reading easier for someone like me who was not very knowledgeable about Greek mythology, it was a lot easier for me to identify who was who. The author also made a character chart with their character design and attached their names, this also made keeping track of new and existing characters much easier.

Overall, I do recommend this book. Volume one is available on Webtoon and most of volume two has just been released. Sadly, since this book comes out in volumes, volume one is currently being sold as a book and volume two is still in the process of being made, but once complete, will then be made into a book. This book is worth the read! Full of thrills, funny moments, and a lot of romance.
