The second season of Love Is Blind, Netflix’s hit dating show in which individuals try to find their perfect match without ever seeing the other person, premiered in early February. I am among over a million people who tuned in to watch all the love and drama this season had in store.

At first glance, Love is Blind may seem like just another dating reality show. There are plenty of them nowadays so it’s easy to assume that they are all the same. However, Love Is Blind has a twist to it. In this reality TV series, men and women meet and date in rooms separated by a wall, called “pods” on the show, before they ever meet face to face. There are 15 men and 15 women. There is a men’s side and a women’s side and every person of each group gets a chance to date every person of the other group in order to find their perfect match.

These dates, which take place in the pods over the course of 10 days, are how the individuals narrow down who they like. The men and women do not see each other during these dates and simply get to know each other through verbal communication. Once a couple is formed, one person must propose marriage to the other in order for them to exit the pods and meet face to face. After that, the couples go on a mini vacation and then come back home to move in together and face reality as they prepare for their wedding — which takes place 4 weeks later. On their wedding day, the couples make a decision to either say “I do” and stay together, or walk away.

When the first season came out in 2020, I was hooked. Couples were formed and while some got married, and are still married, others chose to part. The same happened at the end of the second season, but for anyone who’s watched it, I think we can all agree with how much of a rollercoaster ride it was to follow the couples in their journey to the altar.

Here come the spoilers; don’t say I didn’t warn you. While I didn’t necessarily have a favorite couple, I was happy to see Jarrette and Iyanna tie the knot at the end of season 2. Despite Jarrette’s decision to propose to Mallory first, as well as his conversation with her at the beach, I think he was a pretty great guy. He was always communicating with Iyanna and it was obvious how much he loved her, and she deserves that and so much more. Can you tell I’m an Iyanna fan?
Speaking of great men, I would like to take a minute to acknowledge and appreciate one Salvador Perez. For those of you who have watched the season, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Sal was an absolute saint all throughout the season and in my honest opinion, Mallory did not deserve him. I’ll just leave it at that.

Now, onto not-so-great men. Yes, I am talking about the one and only Shake. Frankly, I think not-so-great is a giant understatement in regards to describing this man. In addition to his shallow and disrespectful mindset, I don’t believe Shake ever tried to make his relationship with Deepti work. Shake complained about not being physically and sexually attracted to Deepti but he neither told her about it nor did he take any advice from his friends about trying to figure it out. He simply complained like a child and proceeded to say disrespectful things.

I am aware that as viewers we don’t see what happens behind the scenes, but if the reunion episode is any indication, then I think I can confidently say that Shake is just simply a jerk, and Deepti deserved so much better.

My opinions on the second season of Love Is Blind are never ending so I think I’ll stop myself here. If you’ve watched the show though and want a friend to chat about it with, please find me ASAP!
