I discovered this food spot during my frequent surfing-of-the-internet in search of a food suitable enough to satisfy my ultra-specific cravings. I surfed, and surfed, until a particular title caught my eye: Kangnam Style. I was attracted to this option for two reasons: 1) I’ve always been fond of various Asian cuisines, such as Indian food, Thai food, Korean food, and many more. 2) It’s a little Korean food truck named after the 2012 hit song “Gangnam Style,” c’mon now. Additionally, despite having less than 15 items on the menu, customers have left more than 700 raving reviews averaging at five stars. Intrigued, and incredibly hungry, I decided to take this matter into my own hands and settle this matter myself.

After receiving my order of bulgogi beef, I was already excited by the appearance of the food; the plate wasn’t only exciting in taste, but also in nutritious potential. The plate came with rice, cabbage drizzled in a sauce similar to sriracha mayonnaise, a portion of kimchi (pickled cabbage and radish), and the bulgogi beef itself topped with a seasoned egg. With plenty of protein (which the workers aren’t stingy on) and healthy fats, this has become one of my favorite post-workout meals. Furthermore, with fermented goods like kimchi alongside the sliced cabbage, this meal provides aid for digestion as well as your daily vegetables.

As for the taste, I enjoyed every aspect of this plate. The bulgogi beef has continued to prove itself, time and time again, as a trustworthy comfort meal for when one feels down in the dumps or famished. They provide hearty, satisfactory portions that never fail, and I firmly believe that most of the population would enjoy Kangnam Style, even if they haven’t tried Korean food once in their life. The only downside is that these meals could be a hit or miss for picky eaters; while I personally enjoy and am used to eating pickled things such as kimchi, that part of the meal may be more of an acquired taste for others that are new to Korean food. Luckily, the kimchi is easily avoidable according to one’s preferences, as it’s on the side.

I now hold the Kangnam Style food truck incredibly close to my heart, and would one hundred percent recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys Asian food with chipotle-style portions. Enjoy it in the evenings or share it with a friend, because these plates never fail to make me content and sleepy!
