EMU Explore is a club that we revived this year in an effort to create a group that is solely focused on encouraging people to get outdoors.

We promote outdoor activities that club leaders facilitate. We also try to promote other activities that people both in and out of the club come up with.

Activities we have facilitated this year include hikes, campfire cookouts, and giveaways.

One of the biggest events of the year was a day-long hike led by junior Collin Longenecker. A group of over 20 students traveled to Old Rag Mountain for an 8.6-mile hike.

Another popular activity consisted of multiple groups mountain biking during the weekend, lead by sophomore Aaron Horst.

EMU Explore also hosted a successful event in the gym. Prizes from Walkabout Outfitters were available for winning teams of two in canjam, cornhole, and ladder golf.

We are hopeful that these events will continue to grow as our numbers expand and new faces begin to attend.

In future semesters, we are going to attempt to organize more complex events, such as overnight camping trips and daylong excursions to lakes for kayaking or longer hikes.

EMU Explore is a unique club in the sense that we have a GroupMe with all of our members that is solely used to promote upcoming activities that we have in mind.

Everyone is invited to join the club and explore the beautiful outdoors that surround Harrisonburg. If you are interested in hearing more, ask about our GroupMe chat and join us next year.

We look forward to seeing you enjoy the outdoors!
