Students socialize and celebrate fall by roasting marshmallows around the campfire for s’mores.

On Oct. 24, students gathered in the Parkwoods cabin area for this year’s Fall Fest, an event organized through a collaboration between Campus Activities Council (CAC), Black Student Alliance (BSA), Y-Serve, Earth Keepers, and Campus Life. Despite the chilly weather, students came out to take part in the evening’s activities and enjoy some food and time with friends.

The event offered several fall-themed activities. Students could paint or carve pumpkins, with several showing creative designs. There was also an apple-grinding station where students could help press apples to harvest the juice. Other activities included cornhole, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, and open areas for students to hang around with their friends and chat.

Food and drinks were available during the event, including pizza, a variety of sweet treats, and apple cider. The combination of snacks and activities created a relaxed setting for students to spend time together outdoors.

Fall Fest also featured a few friendly competitions that drew plenty of participation and cheers from the crowd. The three-legged race brought out teams determined to stay in sync as they made their way across the open area, with seniors Jean and Ivan Betancourt winning first place after a close finish. Another was the donut eating contest, where students competed to finish hanging donuts without using their hands. Junior Ben Huyard took the top spot in that event. When asked about his approach, Huyard said, “I wanted it really badly. I needed the win after the first competitions.”

This event provided a chance for students to unwind and connect with others after a busy part of the semester. Junior Esme King Martin described the atmosphere as “a fantastic, fun social event.”

A big thank you goes out to all those who helped organize and run the event and whose planning and effort made Fall Fest possible.

Overall, Fall Fest provided a mix of simple fall activities, friendly competitions, and casual time with friends. The event showed how collaboration among campus groups can create an enjoyable opportunity for students to get involved and take a break from their regular routines.
